Perfect Peace

Perfect peace...what does peace look like to you? We hear a lot about peace on the news but we hear about fires raging, floods, crime rising, people fighting, marriages breaking up, drug addiction rising, depression increasing, the list goes on and on. And I say you can have peace. You’re probably thinking is she crazy?

How can you have such peace when you see the waves crashing and the winds blowing?

When you find out you’ve got an incurable disease or you lost your job. When your marriage is falling apart. When you feel like you’ll never be enough and no one is happy with you.

Is peace even possible in that situation? The answer is YES!!

I love the verse in Isaiah which talks about perfect peace. It says, ““You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord GOD is the eternal Rock.”

Isaiah 26:3-4

The answer to having peace in the middle of the storms of life and feeling like we aren’t enough. The answer to having peace in the middle of a chaotic house and nothing going your way keeps your thoughts fixed on Jesus.

The Lord is our rock and shelter. We run to Him for refuge and cover.

Often in the middle of dealing with my children’s health situations as the news would come in from the doctors, I was asked but you aren’t falling apart. What’s different about you?

I still had my joy, I wasn’t drinking at the local bar. However, I did fall apart but I took it to the foot of the cross. I was reminded to stand on the promises of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I was reminded that no weapon formed against me would prosper (Isaiah 54:17) I was reminded that God has great plans for my children for me, and for those around me. (Jeremiah 29:11) My peace even when life just plain sucks. It comes from knowing and loving Jesus. I know without Him, I’m nothing but in Him. I am Enough!!

You are in Enough in Christ. When you fix your thoughts on Jesus and get in God’s word. Learn what He says about you. Cling to the rock in the storm.
